The Staff Development Center (SDC) of the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, which is located in the Makandura premises of the University and is administered by the Director of SDC who is directly responsible to the Vice Chancellor of the University, is in a process of developing a distinct academic style that is based on a culture of high achievement and a focus on the needs of professional practitioners. The SDC works hard to enhance learner-centered teaching methodologies for undergraduate education, to stimulate the creation of new patterns of teaching and assessment, consistent with the learner-centered teaching methodologies, which focus on learning outcomes rather than the quantum of lecture hours, to retain, recruit and develop high caliber staff who is able to contribute to the University's mission, aims and objectives in every Department and office and at all levels of the University's operation, and to enhance individual and institutional development and effectiveness.
